Welcome

In 2019, we developed and ran a web development course at Carnegie Mellon University. We expected to help students demystify how websites work and to spark their curiosity. Students ended up not just learning about websites, but walking away with a huge sense of empowerment. They put their new skills to work in freelance projects, starting companies, and more. We were incredibly impressed by their achievements.

Because of how well received it was, we’ve decided to adapt the course and bring it online. This time, the course has been created by team members who have industry experience at top tech companies and teaching experience at premier institutions world over. We have been careful to make sure the course teaches relevant technologies while focusing on fundamentals that will last well beyond technology’s next hype cycle. We hope that you, too, find the same joy and empowerment from this experience.

Welcome to Web Dev in 10 Days.

Requirements

1. A Computer or Laptop

Anything running Windows, MacOS, or Linux will work. Unfortunately, a tablet or Chromebook will not work.

2. A Hard Work Ethic

Most online courses brand themselves as "Easy Peasy" -- they're all lies. Learning and effort go hand in hand, so this won't be easy. When we say "Web Dev in 10 Days," we're giving you a promise: You can learn an entire new skill in ten days. That's the only promise we're making you 😁

The only way this will work, though, is if you have the support you need. As such, throughout the course, you'll see information popups like this:

Ask your Questions on Parthean Community.

This is our community, where we're waiting to answer your questions -- day and night.

If you have questions, comments, thoughts, ideas, or memes, jump into our Parthean Community and make a post. Many of your questions might have even been previously asked, so make sure to search for them to get an immediate response.

3. Ten Days

It's hard to give a time estimate for these ten days. Some days will be longer than others, and the more time you put into experimenting, customizing, and exploring, the more you'll get out of the experience. Having said that, an average of 3-4 hours per day should suffice.

That's it.

What are you waiting for?
